Lecture “Competitiveness and Investment Climate in Chile”

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) of University of Economics, Prague with the Embassy of Chile in the Czech Republic cordially invite you to a lecture taught in English by Mr. Jorge Pizarro, MSc, Executive Vice-President of the Foreign Investment Committee of Chile. This lecture will take place on Thursday October 23, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the room NB 350.


Chile offers attractive investment opportunities in sectors that include mining, services, the food industry, infrastructure, tourism and energy.  Chile remains one of the most stable and prosperous developing nations and consistently ranks high on international indices relating to economic freedom, transparency, and competitiveness. It also fares very well in terms of democratic development, gross domestic product per capita, freedom of the press, and was the highest ranked country in Latin America in terms of competitiveness, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Vice-President of the Chilean Foreign Investment Committee, Mr. Jorge Pizarro was the General Manager Puro Chile Corp. (private sector). He also has experience in the public sector, he served as an advisor to the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative to the OAS, UN, Mercosur and APEC (2008-2010). In addition, he has served as an Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Chile. Mr. Jorge Pizarro earned Masters MSc at the London School of Economics, United Kingdom in the field of comparative politics.
