A cycle of lectures with the ambassadors of Latin American countries at the University of Economics, Prague

The Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Economics, Prague has the pleasure of organizing a cycle of lectures about Latin-American countries. The lectures will feature the ambassadors of their respective countries and will be held each week on Tuesdays throughout this semester. Visitors can learn about the current political, economic and cultural situation of 11 Latin American countries.

Every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. one of the Latin American Ambassadors will give a talk about his/her country, informing the audience about the general characteristics, cultural information, current political situation, concentrating on the economic potential of his/her country and answering questions. Weekly lectures will be held as a part of the course 5RE557 “Latin America and the Caribbean” taught in English.

The aim of the lectures is to give a view of the variety and potential of each Latin American country, including the relations with the Czech Republic and the European Union and their potential.  After each lecture students will be able to ask ambassadors questions that interest them, whether in diplomacy, or about the country.

After the lecture and in cooperation with the student´s organization AISEC we would like to also present the possibilities to do an internship that this organization offers in each of the countries to be presented.

The course will be held every Tuesday at 18:00 in the meeting room of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration (NB 350) and it is not necessary to register. If you want to take the entire course you have to register by ISIS. The registration number of the course is 5RE557.

The first lecture will be held on Tuesday, February 25th with an introduction to Latin America. The country presentations will begin the following Tuesday at 18:00. We are working with the following Embassies on this cycle of lectures: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Cuba, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela.
