The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) of University of Economics in Prague with the Embassy of Chile in Prague cordially invites you to extra-semestral course taught in English by Ph.D. Andrés Solimano, founder and Director of the International Center for Globalization and Development (CIGLOB). The course of 3 ECTS will take place from Wednesday, 19th of November to Wednesday, 26th of November 2014.

The course is intended to give students an analytical and empirical overview of the main trends of global capitalism in the 21st century. Special attention will be paid to the evolution of inequality, the rise of economic elites, the middle class and working class and the nature and effects of financial crises. The Latin American experience will be treated with more detail in a global context.

Ph.D. Andrés Solimano focuses his research on economy, finance, international relations and foreign policy, globalization and the impacts of these topics on society, paying special attention to Latin American countries. He wrote a large number of books. He was also working as a Director of FLACSO-Chile and ECLAC Regional Adviser, as a Director of Country Management Department for Andean Countries in the World Bank and currently is a member of the Editorial Board Series in the Central Bank of Chile.
