Students will be able to understand politics in a rapidly changing world. Students will analyze the relationship between state and society in authoritarian regimes, democratic regimes, communism and post-communist regimes, and less-developed and newly industrializing countries. In view of the grave global implications of the post-September 11 attacks to the Twin Towers of New York City by international terrorists, this course will also delve into the causal factors of grievance by Islamic militant factions from some Third World nations and the political, social & economic impact of globalization.
